LIES

“Sin has many tools, but a lie is the handle that fits them all”

~ Oliver Wendell Holmes

Lying robs life of meaning. In my addiction, I was a liar, not just by what I said, but by what I did, what I left unsaid, and by my manipulation with half-truths.

As a liar, I was forced into the prison of loneliness, despair, and isolation because nobody could know or understand me. My language and communication were ego centered. I was not living in the real world. I was living in my own world with my own rules and definitions. The lies were the killing wounds, and they were self-inflicted.

Today I prefer the pain of truth to the passing satisfaction of lies. The healthy habit of telling the truth is growing in me!

Spirit of truth, may You ever be reflected in the life I seek to live.
