FR. LEO' S DAILY MEDITATION #essentialsofrecovery

TOLERANCE

“Art, if it is to be reckoned with as one of the great values of life, must teach us . . . tolerance.”

~ W. Somerset Maugham ~

There is something about art that is accepting, tolerant, and reconcilable with difference. I have observed that artists—those who paint, write, dance, sculpt, design, and think—are also accepting and tolerant because they need the different to create and progress. Things cannot stay the same. Art is the recorder of humankind’s journey toward truth, but humankind needs friction, argument, confrontation, rejection—and yes, difference—to grow and develop.

In apparent difference, the seed of genius is often buried. Today I open my eyes and heart with acceptance. I become willing to be more tolerant of others and myself I recognize beauty in all I observe.

God, before I reject someone as crazy, let me seriously consider the message.
