The Meaning Of Tao Te Ching
A book written more than two thousand years ago a book by author Lao Tzu and called 'Tao Te Ching' is essentially the essence of Tao.
The title is made up of three Chinese characters. The first 道, means ‘the Way’, or ‘the Path’. This seems to apply to thee laws that govern the universe and how it works. The second 德, is often translated as ‘the Virtue’, however, this is more often used to describe the application of Tao. The third character is for Ching 经, which means classic. All these words together mean ‘The Classic of Tao And Te’
Tao & Te, can be combined to form the Chinese word 道德, which is quite often translated to mean 'moral'. It is for this reason some people translate the title as ‘Book of Moral’. Although this not quite right, as Lao Tzu rarely talks about moral in his book.
