RECOVERY
“There is a destiny that makes us brothers; none goes his way alone. All that we send into the lives of others come back into our own.”
~ Edwin Markham
I remember feeling isolated and alone. I watched people talking with friends, families playing in the park, and lovers holding hands, and I felt different and awkward. I always looked at life from the outside. I was the one without an invitation to the party. Such are the symptoms of addiction! My behavior around alcohol reinforced negative and destructive feelings. By drinking, I perpetuated the painful disease in my life.
Sobriety brings me into comradeship with others, into the family of recovering people. Now I am not alone. I have over a million brothers and sisters living a day at a time in a spiritual program. Today I belong in this world.
Thank You for the need to give so that I might receive.
