Okay Folks! Darlene Dawn, (Not her real Name) asked me a few months ago if I would kindly review her book and was nice enough to send me a copy of "The Inner Connection."
Firstly, I must apologise to Darlene for the extended delay but I have been extremely busy and had a slight accident (broken clavicle) which didn't help at all. Anyway, in her book Darlene takes us on her spiritual journey to recovery and freely admits that what she has done and gotten strength from, may not work for all.
Her honesty and encouragement is helpful yet meaningful and the fact that it is her own personal journey makes it even more poignant. I like how she takes the reader gently through her path to recovery and encourages us to be a stronger more spiritually centred person.
I felt Darlene was open and forthright from the offset, which impressed me and helped me to identify.
I think those in recovery would benefit greatly from reading this inspirational book as well as The Big Book (which Darlene strongly recommends). This was a very original and refreshing read; albeit I have not fully completed it. Sorry Darlene!
In finishing, I like to say that Darlene seems to be a very courageous and lovely lady, tuned into how to approach the subject matter and the people she is trying to reach. She doesn't condescend or suggest that you leave whatever path you are currently on. In fact quite the opposite, which I for one like. She merely gives the reader a little guidance and enlightenment. I wish her well in her endeavour and being a writer myself, I applaud her wonderful achievement.
