Emmet Fox- Tales of Woe #essentialsofrec #Self-pity #Emmet #Fox

The negative things in life often are the ones that get the most attention from the public. Thousands of couples live harmonious married lives, but one divorce can get a two column spread in the newspapers. A man leaves his fortune for the care of the aged and he might be favored with a line or two on the inside pages; but a racketeer can have his picture on the front page.

At first glance it might seem peculiar that we should consider that such negative things are news, but on closer examination it easily appears that this is so because mankind really believes that good is the normal thing and to be expected, and that therefore the opposite is news.

Now, our chief mistake is not in recognizing man's deviation from good as news, but in constantly filling our minds with these happenings. And there are many people who are not content with merely reading an account of an unhappy event, but can hardly wait to recount the dreadful details to any who will listen.

Of course, this kind of conduct can only bring in harmony and unhappiness in its wake.

If you want to demonstrate peace of mind, harmony, friendship, and prosperity, see to it that you channel your thought along positive and constructive lines. Concentrate on the good that is to be found everywhere. Soon the negative things will drop out of your own life, and the world, too, will look a lot better to you.
