VALUE
“A cynic is someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.”
~ Oscar Wilde
I did not know the value of my life until I looked beyond it. I was so self-obsessed that I missed the beauty of this world, so concerned with minutia that I missed the fun of living. I now see that my behavior had its roots in my childhood, in my dysfunctional family. I may have become a parent to my own parents. I took charge of everybody’s life and felt responsible and guilty. Everything was work, and I did not learn how to play.
Now I am in recovery. I am dumping my feelings of guilt, shame, and anger. I am beginning to understand I am not responsible for my parents. I am beginning to feel free. Today I am learning to play!
