“Peace without justice is tyranny.”
~ William Allen White
Peace at any price is not a maxim I adopt. For years, I was seeking a peace based on the “no-talk” principle—remaining quiet rather than causing upset or risking embarrassment. Such peace was unjust. It fed my disease and helped keep me sick.
Today I seek a peace that involves discussing or con-fronting painful situations. This may make me or others uncomfortable, and that is okay. Serenity is peace achieved after periods of necessary pain.
Now I have the courage to speak out and make choices that are good for me. I do so from a place of truth and integrity. I speak from my sense of conviction with love. God is always alive in my choices.
May I forever know the peace that is real.
