“It is the test of a good religion if you can joke about it.”
~ G. K. Chesterton ~
Today I am able to joke with God and about God. Today I am able to laugh with me about me. Laughter is one of the greatest gifts I have received in my journey of sobriety.
In my recovering community, I laugh with my brothers and sisters. I share their joy, and I share their pain. My spirituality comes alive in the company of clean and sober people.
Today I am able to laugh in a healthy way about God, the Church, spirituality, and recovery. Laughter joyously reflects my human imperfection and at the same time reminds me of God’s glory embodied in my life.
God, I contemplate You laughing at my pompous piety.
