FR.LEO'S DAILY MEDITATION #essentialsofrecovery

JUSTICE

“Justice is truth in action.”

~ Benjamin Disraeli ~

It is not enough for me to believe a thing is true; it is imperative that I live my beliefs. For too long, I held beliefs that kept me silent. My fear of displeasing others shaped my silent existence. Now I understand justice is part of spirituality. I need to walk as I talk! I am uncomfortable when I remain silent in the face of injustice. As a recovering alcoholic, such discomfort is dangerous because it can easily lead to low self-esteem, anger, resentment, and relapse.

Today I know I can slip without taking a drink. I may slip from where I want to be in my life. My personal integrity includes a definition of justice that can be seen in my lifestyle.

God of justice, teach me never again to hide in the lie of silence.
