PROBLEMS
“The certainties of one age are the problems of the next.”
~ R. H. Tawney
Life is a process that sometimes entails problems. Fear of the new, discomfort with old values being seen as wrong, and confusion that often accompanies growth are a few examples.
As an alcoholic, I tried to run away from problems by drinking. But the next day, the old problems were still there, and my drinking usually brought new ones in addition. Alcohol produced a momentary escape, but reality always returned.
Today with the acceptance of my alcoholism and my decision not to pick up the first drink, I face problems courageously and deal with them wisely. I live with the problems of life and do not allow them to spoil my existence.
Teach me to joyously accept any problems life and growth may bring.
