BEAUTY
“Not everyone in old slippers can manage to look like Cinderella.”
~ Don Marquis ~
Beauty is not how I look; it is within. I began to love myself when I saw the beauty God has given everyone—including me. God s image expresses through my attitudes and feelings, in how I greet and listen to others, and in the gentle dignity I afford them.
For years, I saw myself as ugly, boring, and stupid. This message came from parents who forever compared me with others, and I believed them. I hid through my teenage years and quietly tried to escape in food, alcohol, or drugs. Then I met people who had felt the same but were now feeling different. They loved me until I could begin to love myself. Today I can love others as well.
Help me see beauty in the wrinkle and power in the pain.
