1965- Lester Matthews, English actor (The Adventures of Robin Hood), dies at 64.

1999 - Mel Tormé, American singer (The Velvet Fog) and composer (The Christmas Song), dies at 73.

2013- Ruairí Ó Brádaigh, Irish paramilitary and political leader of Sinn Féin, dies at 80
